He previously worked for the Purdue News Service and the Purdue Alumni Association, where he was editor of the “ Purdue Alumnus” from 1992 to 1999. A 1981 Purdue graduate, Newton is the director of external relations and communications for the Krannert School of Management. In addition to his football duties, Newton will embark on his 30th season as play-by-play voice of the Purdue women's basketball team with the 2019-20 campaign. Tim Newton is in his 12th season as play-by-play announcer and also serves as host of the “Purdue Weekly Show.” Newton previously filled the role of pregame, halftime and postgame host, as well as producer, from 1995 to 2009.
